Commissioner Stewart Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act

Tallahassee, Fla., July 24, 2015 – Today, Commissioner of Education joined in festivities in Florida’s capital city to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Commissioner Stewart said, “The Americans with Disabilities Act removed barriers for persons with disabilities to participate in all facets of American life. I am proud to support programs that help all Floridians succeed and lead the most independent lives possible.”

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law in July 1990 by President George H. W. Bush. The ADA is an important civil rights act that prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities.
