Department of Education to Celebrate Braille Literacy Month at Tallahassee Elementary School

Tallahassee, Fla., January 13, 2016 – Tomorrow, Division of Blind Services Director Robert Doyle and K-12 Public Schools Chancellor Hershel Lyons will visit Kate Sullivan Elementary School in Tallahassee to celebrate Braille Literacy Month. They will read “The Secret Code” by Dana Meachen Rau to first grade students and participate in a brief Braille activity with the students.

Braille is a system of touch reading and writing using characters formed by combinations of six raised dots that are read from left to right.
