First Lady to Conclude 2014 Summer Literacy Adventure at Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka

Tallahassee, Fla., August 4, 2014 - Tomorrow, Florida First Lady Ann Scott will visit Wekiwa State Park in Apopka for her fourth and final stop of the 2014 Summer Literacy Adventure. This is the fourth consecutive year First Lady Scott has participated in the event.

What: First Lady to read to more than 30 children and encourage them to read at home.

When: Tuesday, August 5, 2014 10 a.m.

Where: Wekiwa Springs State Park
1800 Wekiwa Circle
Apopka

Research shows that children who do not continue reading through the summer can lose a month or more of progress made during the school year. By encouraging their children to read, parents are playing a critical role in achieving Florida's goal of having every child reading at or above grade level.

Children can pledge to make summer reading a real-life adventure at 2014 Summer Literacy Adventure.
