Districts' Initial Personnel Evaluation Results Posted

Tallahassee, Fla., December 3, 2013 - The Florida Department of Education today posted the preliminary aggregate results of each school district's evaluation of personnel. The report contains information provided by districts and includes the number and percentage of classroom teachers, other instructional personnel and school administrators who earned evaluation ratings of highly effective, effective, needs improvement, developing, or unsatisfactory for the 2012-13 school year. A more complete and updated report will be posted in January as districts continue to upload results.

"Florida's students continue to show impressive gains as our teachers lead the way," said Florida Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. "Today's report is preliminary and will be reviewed as part of our ongoing quest to ensure success in college and career for every one of Florida's children."

"With the continued leadership of Gov. Scott, we will continue to work with the Legislature and teachers to determine the best tools to ensure high quality instruction in the classroom," said Stewart.

Florida had the 2nd largest per pupil increase in education funding on record in the 2013-2014 budget year, including Gov. Rick Scott's proposal for $480 million in teacher pay raises. Yesterday Gov. Scott urged remaining districts to finalize agreements to make those pay raises effective.

Numerous independent reviews have touted Florida's recent education success. Last year, Florida jumped from 11th to 6th in the nation for educational quality. Florida's 4th grade students are among the world's best in reading. The National Council on Teacher Quality ranked Florida teachers the nation's best for two years in a row.

Today's results will be posted at http://www.fldoe.org/profdev/pa.asp. Districts are still providing their data and these results will be updated in January.
