Hillsborough Community College President Elected to Chair National Board of Directors

San Francisco - HCC President Dr. Ken Atwater has been elected Chair-elect of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Community colleges are the largest and fastest-growing sector of U.S. higher education, enrolling close to half (46 percent) of all U.S. undergraduates, and AACC represents nearly 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and more than 13 million students, as well as a growing number of international members in Puerto Rico, Japan, Great Britain, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.

The AACC Board is the 32-member governing body charged with acting on behalf of the institutional members to create a strategic vision for AACC and to ensure appropriate and effective organizational performance.

Hillsborough Community College serves over 47,000 students annually at its five campuses located throughout Tampa Bay. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
