Chancellor Hanna to Present $100,000 Grant to CF for Dual Enrollment Springboard

On Monday, April 1, the College of Central Florida will hold a press conference to announce a $100,000 grant award from the Florida Department of Education for CF to operate a Dual Enrollment Springboard for the entire Florida College System. The press conference will begin at 4 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.

Presenting the award will be Randy Hanna, chancellor for the Division of Florida Colleges, and Pam Stewart, chancellor for the Division of Public Schools.

The grant will support a multi-faceted toolkit, including a comprehensive website, professional development tutorials and resources, and a dual enrollment Student Success Prep Kit.

"The Florida Dual Enrollment Springboard will be an invaluable tool for educators and administrators in Florida's public schools and the Florida College System," said Hanna. "Florida's students will benefit from increased collaboration and support services that will improve their success in dual enrollment courses. I commend the College of Central Florida on its strong proposal and look forward to the statewide release of the Springboard."

The project will help Florida College System institutions to:

  • Promote awareness of dual enrollment opportunities in Florida
  • Build collaborative relationships with school districts and post-secondary institutions
  • Coordinate student support services
  • Provide professional development to faculty and administrators
  • Help educators prepare students to be successful in dual enrollment courses.

"The Florida Dual Enrollment Springboard and legislative recognition of the cost and value of dual enrollments will go a long way toward greater acceleration of student learning and degree completions in Florida," said Dr. Jim Henningsen, CF president. "We see dual enrollment as an important part of our overall efforts to achieve more for students and for Florida."
