First Lady Ann Scott Takes Summer Literacy Adventure to Wakulla Springs State Park

Florida's First Lady Ann Scott, the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the Florida Department of State are teaming up to encourage reading during the summer break. The Summer Literacy Adventure, launched in May by the First Lady, invites students to pledge to read a certain number of books this summer. Mrs. Scott will share a short reading passage with students while Wakulla Springs State Park Manager Brain Fugate and Florida Park Service Director Donald Forgione highlight various aspects of Wakulla Springs.

A select school with the most participating students in the Summer Literacy Adventure will be recognized during the 2011-12 school year, and the Department of Environmental Protection will also reward the winning school with a free pass to any state park.

The event will take place:
Wednesday, June 15, 2011
