Student Growth Implementation Committee to Hold Face-to-Face Meeting in Orlando

The Race to the Top Student Growth Implementation Committee (SGIC) will hold its next face-to-face meeting May 19-20 in Orlando, Fla. Consisting of teachers, principals, parents, teacher educators, business leaders and other education stakeholders, the committee was established to help inform the process of creating a value added student growth model for school districts to use as they develop new teacher and principal evaluation systems.

The purpose of this next meeting is to review the previously-discussed value-added models and their results using Florida specific data. The committee will then discuss possible recommendations on a model to measure student learning growth that will be used in new teacher evaluation systems.

The meeting will also be webcast on the Department’s website at www.fldoe.org. Additional information about the committee and its continuing work can be found at http://www.fldoe.org/committees/sg.asp.

The meeting will be held:

May 19-20, 2011 8:30 a.m.
