First Lady Ann Scott to Host Students at Mansion to Kick Off Summer Literacy Adventure

First Lady Ann Scott, Florida Department of State Secretary Kurt Browning, and the Florida Department of Education’s Just Read, Florida! Office Executive Director Stu Greenberg will kick off a statewide effort to encourage Florida children to read this summer. The Summer Literacy Adventure will launch at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, with a children’s reading event at the Governor’s Mansion. Students from Fairview Middle School in Leon County will begin their summer adventure with a tour of the Mansion and its library and will participate in storytelling with the First Lady. Students will also have an opportunity to pledge to read a certain number of books during the summer and develop a personalized reading list using Florida’s Find a Book tool.
