Chancellor's Leadership Seminar Graduates Future College Leaders

St. Augustine, Fla., June 23, 2014 - Thirty five of the best and brightest faculty and administrators from the Florida College System's (FCS) 28 community colleges, state colleges and colleges graduated last week from the 2014 Chancellor's Leadership Seminar (CLS). Florida College System Chancellor Randy Hanna offered his congratulations at a ceremony in historic downtown St. Augustine.

"We are excited to once again provide this leadership development opportunity to administrators and faculty within the Florida College System who may be interested in a leadership role," said Chancellor Hanna. "The impetus is to promote individuals who may be primed to move into administrative or other leadership roles and are committed to Florida's college system."

The CLS participants attended an all-encompassing four-day seminar, which was held at the St. Johns River State College St. Augustine Campus June 17-20. Since 2001, the seminar has marked a significant phase in each participant's professional development. This nomination-only event indicates that each class member has been recognized as an individual with the potential for professional advancement within the FCS. Speakers at the seminar included college presidents, state legislators and CLS alumni.

Florida's colleges remain the primary point of access to higher education in Florida, with 65 percent of the state's high school graduates pursuing postsecondary education beginning at a Florida college, and 82 percent of freshman and sophomore minority students in public higher education attending one of Florida's 28 colleges.
