Florida Students Move Ahead to National Competition

Tallahassee, Fla., October 16, 2012 - Five Florida students' posters are headed to a national competition after winning first place in a contest sponsored by the Florida Association for Pupil Transportation. Using the theme "Stand Back from the Yellow and Black," students created original artwork that shows how to be safe when school buses are nearby. The national winning poster will promote National School Bus Safety Week in 2013.

"My warmest congratulations to the winners of this year's poster contest," said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. "They are very creative and their messages are good reminders for all of us about safety around school buses."

Florida's first place winners in each division are below.

Division I - Grades K-2
