Education Department Launches Spanish Version of Success Measures Application
~ Online resource helps Spanish-speaking families understand Florida’s standards and tests ~Tallahassee – The Florida Department of Education (DOE) today announced the launch of a Spanish version of a web resource that helps parents better understand recent changes to the state’s curriculum standards and assessments. Created last year, the Success Measures Pathway is an online tool created by DOE that allows parents to input information about the courses their student will be taking in order to see the specific academic benchmarks they will learn and the exams that will measure their progress.
“Success Measures is an important resource in our continuing mission to keep parents and students informed about the work going on in their schools,” said Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith. “I’m confident this Spanish version of the tool will make this information more accessible for many of our families and give them a greater understanding of what their students will be taught each school year.”
The Success Measures application enables users to learn about Florida’s curriculum standards, also referred to as the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, and the specific exams that students will take to measure their progress in each area. Parents have the option to select information based on the anticipated school year, grade level and the courses their student will take in Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health or Physical Education. The tool continues to be refined as updated standards are included within the education framework.
