First Lady Ann Scott to Kick Off Eighth Annual Summer Literacy Adventure

Tallahassee, Fla, May 13, 2018 – Tomorrow, May 14, First Lady Ann Scott will kick off the Eighth Annual Summer Literacy Adventure at the Florida Governor’s Mansion. During the event, she will host students from Roberts Elementary School for reading, learning and fun activities and announce the Summer Literacy Adventure Pledge Challenge.

Over the next few months, the First Lady will travel the state to encourage Florida students to read and visit their local libraries during the upcoming summer break. The 2018 Summer Literacy Adventure is a partnership between the Florida Department of Education, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Lottery.

Research shows that children who do not continue reading through the summer can lose a month or more of progress made during the school year.
