State and Local Leaders Celebrate 75th Anniversary of State Services for Blind and Visually Impaired Floridians

Ft. Myers, Fla., July 27, 2016 – Tomorrow, the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Blind Services will celebrate 75 years of helping blind and visually-impaired Floridians lead independent lives. The event will provide members of the blind community and their loved ones, as well as local businesses, with the chance to learn more about partnership opportunities, available services and to hear testimonials from DBS clients who have benefitted.

Who: Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart, Division of Blind Services Director Robert L. Doyle III, Representative Matthew Hudson and a number of state and local leaders in the blind community

For 75 years, the Division of Blind Services has fostered independence for the blind and visually impaired community through its educational, vocational, medical, social and recreational services and programs.
