Twelve Florida Schools Named National Blue Ribbon Schools

Tallahassee, Fla., October 2, 2018 – Twelve Florida public schools have been named National Blue Ribbon schools by the U.S. Department of Education. These schools were recognized for overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

“I am honored to congratulate these Florida schools for being named National Blue Ribbon Schools,” said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. “Florida is recognized nationally for the high quality public education available to our students. This announcement is yet another example of the hard work taking place in our state’s schools, and I applaud the students and educators who contributed to this outstanding accomplishment.”

National Blue Ribbon Schools will be honored in November at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where each school leader will receive a plaque and flag to signify the school’s exemplary status.

The following Florida public schools earned the “Exemplary High Performance” title:

  • West Shore Junior/Senior High School, Brevard County
  • Somerset Academy Elementary Miramar Campus, Broward County
  • Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, Collier County
  • Sea Gate Elementary School, Collier County
  • Stanton College Preparatory School, Duval County
  • Pensacola Beach Elementary School, Inc., Escambia County
  • Colleen Bevis Elementary School, Hillsborough County
  • Archimedean Upper Conservatory, Miami-Dade County                                                 
  • George Washington Carver Middle School, Miami-Dade County                                    
  • Herbert A. Ammons Middle School, Miami-Dade County                                               
  • A.D. Henderson University School & FAU High School, Palm Beach County
  • Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary School, Pinellas County
