New Worlds Reading Initiative
The New Worlds Reading Initiative is a free Florida literacy program for VPK-5 public or charter school students currently reading below grade level. Thanks to the support and investment of the Florida Legislature, this statewide book delivery program is a collaborative effort with the Florida Department of Education, school districts and other local and state organizations, and the University of Florida Lastinger Center. New Worlds Reading Initiative Tax Contribution Overview (PDF)
Pursuant to s. 1003.485(3)(c), F.S., beginning September 30, 2022, and annually thereafter, the Department of Education must report on its website the number of students participating in the initiative in each school district, information from the annual financial report under subparagraph (b)6., and the academic achievement and learning gains, as applicable, of participating students.
