Elementary School Resources

There is a wide range of excitement, curiosity and skill level in our elementary grades. That is why this age group can really excel and enjoy this new and different way of learning! While distance learning presents its own set of challenges, it can also be a time to engage in new and exciting ways. Heading outdoors for a science lesson with a nature scavenger hunt or cooking and experimenting with ingredients for example. Below we’ve compiled a list of resources to help you set a routine at home or to change up your current routine!

Learning A-Z

Learning A-Z is offering free access to Raz-Kids and Headsprout for the rest of the school year to any teacher, school, district or parent that doesn’t already have them. Raz-Kids is for K-5 students and provides digital access to 800+ non-fiction and fiction leveled books in English and Spanish – students can listen to the books, read independently, and take comprehension quizzes while earning rewards for tasks completed. Headsprout is for K-6 students and provides individualized, adaptive reading instruction through a series of fun, engaging lessons for early reading and reading comprehension. Students earn rewards for reading tasks completed. Built-in placement test.

Carolina

Carolina Biological Supply Company is committed to support parents, teachers, and school districts with learn-from-home resources during this challenging time. Explore the resources below for elementary and middle school students from Carolina’s Building Blocks of Science 3D, Innovators in Science, and Smithsonian Programs.

CLIMB

CLIMB is for youth ages 10 and under. This online adventure story of Sammie, the Saving Scottie, through a series of animated videos as he learns basics of money management. Topics include budgeting, saving and the difference between needs and wants, with the goal to help start the conversation about money basics, while making it fun and engaging for Florida’s early learners.

Kodable Blog

Kodable’s mission is to make programming education accessible to as well as supporting teachers, parents and students with free resources for teaching or learning from home.

National Inventors Hall of Fame

The National Inventors Hall of Fame provides online STEM and invention education lesson plans and activities to encourage continued learning, including STEM activity blogs and a STEM activity guide.

Flyleaf Publishing

Flyleaf Publishing offers a free resource to help facilitate online reading instruction and learning during this challenging time of school closures due to the Coronavirus outbreak. There are two areas of the site, one for Students and one for Instructors.

Generation Genius

Generation Genius provides a free digital library of science lessons for K-5 students.

GoNoodle

GoNoodle provides free Exercise and Mindfulness videos for children.

Imagine Learning

Imagine Learning offers online language development lessons for K-8 students, including Math and Literacy Programs, geared towards keeping students, parents and educators engaged in academics and language development during this time.

Kids Quarantine Time Capsule

One designer has created a COVID-19 time capsule printable that you can download for free.

BrainPOP

BrainPOP is offering free access to all of their lessons in Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts & Music, Health & SEL, Engineering for K-3 students, 3-5 students, English Language Learners and Educators.

Ranger Rick

The National Wildlife Federation is America's largest conservation organization that works with more than 4 million members, partners and supporters in communities across the country to protect and restore wildlife habitat, confront global warming and connect with nature. Ranger Rick is a fun-packed children's nature magazine aimed at kids aged 7 and up and published 10 times per year by the National Wildlife Federation and is offering a three-month subscription free through June 30, 2020!

Primary Playground

Primary Playground offers free online activities and ideas to support teachers and parents in engaging Elementary level students in educational and innovative ways.

Scholastic

Scholastic created free resources to provide all students with 20 days worth of instructional materials at www.scholastic.com/learnathomeClick here to access a safe online environment for children to meet their favorite story book characters, write stories and listen to live events with Authors while interacting with other readers.

ST Math

ST Math is offering free access to parents and educators to their interactive math curriculum geared towards K-8 grade level students through June 30, 2020.

Walkabouts

Walkabouts ActivEd is making the Walkabouts platform available temporarily for free to any students forced to learn from home in response to the COVID-19 related school closings. Given these stressful and less than ideal circumstances, our team recognizes the importance of a resource for standards-based movement and physical activity. In addition to the general student logins being distributed by our team now, we are also offering significant accommodations and discounts to regions and districts who wish to license our platform at the enterprise level for their specific state standards. View additional free resources to help with kids at home during school closures.

Zearn Math

Zearn Math is providing math lessons for K-5 students free. Kids, teachers, parents, and caregivers can directly access online and paper-based materials at www.zearn.org.
