The Florida Department of Education Launches the XploreFLEd Initiative to Offer Florida Workforce Training Education to Students Nationwide
Tallahassee, Fla., October 30, 2024 – Today, Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. announced the launch of XploreFLEd, a groundbreaking initiative that provides out-of-state students with the opportunity to enroll in select online workforce education courses at participating Florida institutions, including Polk State College, Miami Dade College and Tallahassee State College. This initiative furthers Florida’s commitment to becoming the national leader in workforce education by 2030.
“With the launch of this initiative, Florida is extending an invitation to students nationwide to experience our first-class, outcome-driven education system,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “Our goal is clear – by 2030, Florida will be the national leader in workforce education, focused on practical skills and career readiness, free from unnecessary distractions that don’t belong in the classroom. We are excited to welcome out-of-state students to utilize XploreFLEd.”
Florida’s ongoing commitment to workforce education is an essential part of building an even stronger economy. The XploreFLEd initiative offers students across the U.S. a clear path to high-quality, practical education, free from divisive rhetoric and free from curriculum based on indoctrination. This effort would not be possible without the dedicated partnerships within the Florida College System, whose institutions play a pivotal role in delivering the innovative and workforce-aligned programs that prepare students for success in today’s competitive job market.
“Polk State College is excited to partner with the Florida Department of Education to offer out-of-state students access to Florida’s first-class education system,” said Polk State College President Angela Garcia Falconetti, Ed.D. “This initiative expands our reach and enables students nationwide to benefit from our programs, which are closely aligned with workforce needs, providing them with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s evolving job market.”
“At Miami Dade College, we are proud to partner with the Florida Department of Education on the XploreFLEd initiative,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “This program opens doors for students across the country, offering them the chance to access high-quality workforce education programs. We’re excited to help students develop the expertise needed to thrive in their chosen careers through this innovative initiative.”
“Tallahassee State College is proud to collaborate with the Florida Department of Education on XploreFLEd,” said Tallahassee State College President Jim Murdaugh. “Now, students from across the nation can easily enroll in our state’s top-ranked Florida College System institutions and get the practical skills and knowledge they need for long-term career success.”
