General Information for Requesting Appointment of a Special Magistrate for Materials Used in Classrooms or School Libraries.

A parent may request the appointment of a Special Magistrate to determine whether a school district properly considered a parental objection to the use of a specific material in school. The law pertaining to special magistrate requests for materials used in classrooms or school libraries is found in section 1006.28(2)(a)2. and 6., Florida Statutes. The process for requesting this type of special magistrate is found in Rule 6A-1.094126, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).
