CAPE Data & Performance
The Florida Legislature passed the Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Act in 2007. The purpose of the act was to provide a statewide planning partnership between the business and education communities in order to attract, expand and retain targeted, high-value industry and to sustain a strong, knowledge-based economy. Per to section 1003.492(5), Florida Statutes (F.S.), the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) is to conduct an annual analysis of student participation and performance in industry certified secondary career and technical education programs authorized by the CAPE Act.

During the 2019 legislative session, the requirement to produce the annual report was eliminated. However, due to the importance of CAPE academies, career themed courses, related industry certification earning, and the role they each play in strengthening the workforce pipeline, future CAPE related reports have been commissioned and will be published in the coming future.
