The 2023 Florida Assistant Principal of the Year receives a $2,500 prize, while the two state assistant principal finalists receive $1,000 each and the district winners receive $200.

Assistant Principal Angela Patton is an admired member of Mariposa Elementary School’s leadership team. Since joining the Mariposa’s team in 2018, Assistant Principal Patton’s commitment to community and the pursuit of knowledge have not waivered. Patton was a leading force that helped Mariposa Elementary School leap 109 points, achieving the status of an A-rated school. She is widely recognized for modeling the values necessary for student achievement, and her mentoring background provides a unique capacity to build relationships with students, teachers and educational staff. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and Policy-Public Health Administration from the University of Maryland, as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
